AVERY SCOTT

Avery Scott is a dance performer and creator based in the Atlanta area. She began training at Perimeter Ballet at the age of 5 and trained there for 13 years. She also trained with Ballet by Day under the mentorship of Stacey Slichter and Kristi Necessary Loveless while attending summer programs at Ballet Magnificat, the University of South Carolina Dance Conservatory, Atlanta Ballet, and the International Ballet Intensive. Now she is a dance and English major at the University of Georgia where she performs, choreographs, and conducts dance research. Through the University, she has performed in the 2020 and 2021 Young Choreographer’s Showcase, the 2022 and 2023 UGA Dance Company Spring Shows, at DanceAthens, and is currently producing her own choreographic work to be showcased this November. Additionally, she has worked with Ameila Reiser of Staibdance, Seyong Kim of Baltimore Ballet, and violist Kenji Bunch. Most recently, she performed “Steps in the Street” with the Martha Graham Dance Company under the direction of Elizabeth Auclair on their 100-year anniversary tour and apprenticed with Kit Modus under the direction of Jillian Mitchell this summer. Outside of performance, she has been awarded the Mark Wheeler Summer Study and the Lucy Lampkin and the Friends of Dance dance scholarships. Additionally, Avery’s dance research has been presented at multiple academic conferences including the American National Dance Association’s and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities’s 2023 conferences. Avery is thrilled to be a part of Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company’s 2023-2024 season.
