ABBY SCHULZE

MARKETING COORDINATOR & COMPANY MEMBER

Abby Schulze is a dance creator and educator in the Atlanta area. She trained under Alexis Kozar at N-Step Dance Academy in Suwanee, Georgia for thirteen years while attending summer programs with the University of South Carolina Dance Conservatory, Inaside Chicago Dance Company, and BODYTRAFFIC. In 2017, Abby began working as a dance educator at N-Step Dance Academy where she taught jazz, tap, ballet, and lyrical classes for five years. From 2020-2021, Abby interned with the Traverse City Dance Project under Brent Whitney and Jennifer McQuiston Lott. She then served as an Administrative Assistant and Resident Advisor with the Joffrey Ballet School during their 2022 and 2023 summer seasons.

 

Abby is now pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management and Leadership at the University of Georgia. Through the UGA Dance Department, she has performed in the 2021 Young Choreographer’s Showcase, the 2022 Black History Month Concert, “Ubuntu,” and the 2022 UGA Dance Company Performance, “Mergence.” She debuted a choreographic work, “Crepuscular,” this past fall in the 2022 Young Choreographer’s Showcase. In the spring of 2023, Abby worked with Amelia Reiser in a UGA Dance Department residency and opened for the Martha Graham Dance Company, performing "Steps in the Street" under the guidance of Elizabeth Auclair. She is a current instructor at The Studio Athens where she teaches hip hop, jazz, ballet, creative movement, and acrobatics. Abby is thrilled to be a Company Member and Marketing Coordinator for her second season with the Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company under Artistic Director Lauren Overstreet. She looks forward to performing and continuing to foster dance through educational outreach.
