

Amaya La’shaye Burnett

​Amaya La’shaye is a dancer, artist, and choreographer. They began their dance training in Raleigh, North Carolina (2010), where they studied dance at Needham Broughton High School and North Carolina Dance Institute. They received their Bachelor's in Fine Arts at UNCSA, where they majored in contemporary dance and studied ballet and composition. They have performed in works by Robert Battle, Gina Patterson, Kate Jewett, Gaspard Louis, Maleek Washington, Igal Perry, and Ashley Lindsey. Her artistic work embraces meditation, nervous system regulation, and improvisation, and examines their personal connection to humanity. She has set work and taught dancers in local schools in North Carolina and Georgia, and has a deep passion for somatics as a healing tool.
